Biography:

Jan Wedekind is a former C++-addict and his health was affected by arithmetic overflows and buffer overruns for many years. Like many C++-addicts he has a past dealing with real-time computing where the negative peer pressure is particularly strong. He fell prey to statically-typed languages when he joined a research group and got high on performance.

To improve his life Jan Wedekind tried the common treatment with Ruby-extensions where the programmer gradually lowers the dose of C++ to mitigate the effects caused by withdrawing performance. Although the relapse rate is especially high for programmers with a history of using languages such as Pascal and x86-assembler, he refused to use NumPy as a replacement. While NumPy does not have any known side-effects, some programmers don't respond well to Python's list-comprehensions.

Jan Wedekind considers himself cured now and his research work aims at helping others like himself.
