Description:

May Meetup:

Taking the X out of AJAX

This month's JavaScript meetup is all about AJAX, and why we are taking the "X" of out it and inserting a "J". Why you ask? The X in AJAX stands for "XML", which is quickly becoming outdated as the preferred response text of XHR (AJAX) requests as the more efficient and native response text, JSON, is becoming widely adopted.

Joe McCann (@joemccann) and Kyle Simpson (@getify) will lead/moderate the discussion as they will go over some high-level concepts of what AJAX is, how to execute XHR requests, and why JSON is preferred over XML as the response. The discussion is to be just that...a discussion, so please bring your questions and/or your insights to this meetup as the group for sure has same bright attendants!

The meetup will start at 7:30 pm.

1206 W 43rd Street Austin TX 78756

Parking is on the street, or you can take the #3 bus or #338 bus, both of which have stops close by.

Afterwards, the discussion carries on one block away at The Draught House, where it just happens to be pint night so you can get your beer fix here.
