ASP.NET MVC Solution Best Practices 4.68 http://spkr8.com/t/13791

Speakers

Description:

Developers choose ASP.NET MVC because it provides for more control over the resulting HTML, better separation of concerns, and better testability. But these benefits are only fully realized if the project and solution is set up properly. Otherwise, it's very possible to create a tightly coupled Big Ball of Mud solution that's difficult to test and change. In this session, we'll create a 'Walking Skeleton' solution of a simple web application using ASP.NET MVC 4 that shows off certain best practices of creating maintainable, loosely coupled solutions.

Thanks Steve that was a real great example of how to refactor and mature a project!

Really great information, made some of the things I have barely skimmed the surface of were made clear enough to, if not use right away, know where to start looking when I am ready to use them.

Really great presentation. Loved that you presented with the refactor mess that most of us are probably more familiar with.

Really nice way to make your points by taking a smelly project and refactoring it. Great job!

Great presentation with excellent demo, project structure layouts, and build examples. Also enjoyed your references to "static cling" and the "zone of pain". Thanks!

Steve Smith has excellent presentation skills along with a commanding knowledge of the subject. While there is much content regarding theory when it comes to loosely coupled / onion architecture, there isn't much out there that really shows this in practice which this presentation does well. Even if you don't consider yourself an architect as such this will really help you understand why modern solution design is structured the way it is.
