Description:
This talk is aimed at beginners to intermediate users who want to know everything about events in jQuery: from simple binding and cloning to efficient event delegation. The specificities of the .live() and the .closest() functions introduced in jQuery 1.3 will be covered as well as tricks to improve performances of event delegation and to use it with the mouseover and mouseout events.
The talk can be short but is likely to be higly visual in order to help the audience understand the key concepts such as event bubbling and the way .closest() works.
Comments on this Talk
The presenter lost the audience and failed to engage everyone. One of the worst I've seen.

Fonts on a dark background don't project well; you could also bump them up a size or two.

I'm not sure if the language has been a barrier, I've had that problem myself before, but you mixed terms quite a few times (mix between events, handlers, elements) that did not help

Tried to cover too much. Was obviously nervous. Cool stuff demonstrated, though

Ditto to other comments. Demos seemed very interesting but the implications were often subtle and difficult to follow without more explicit "Here is why this is interesting..."

Very hard to hear the speaker, even with the mic. Text on the screen was nearly impossible to read. Got virtually nothing out of the session.

Thank you all for the feedback, I guess it can only be better next time.

With actual links it's better:

You obviously speak english very well, but the cadence of your speech as well as constantly mixing up your words made it very difficult to follow.
You have a lot of potential and you were one of the only presenters who had a really cool, well thought out gizmo built that clearly demonstrated the principles of the talk.

Thank you for presenting. Great work! I think part of the deficiency of the presentation though was the interface that was chosen to present the code and the result. As a presenter it may seem more efficient to present this way I think it might have been a bit distracting the audience from the interactive nature of the project itself. I think some of the better presentations of code combined large static images of code preceded by a live working example. This way you can provide the examples in a logical sequence perhaps with a brief slide on the screen explaining the next example before you demonstrate.

I've posted a first follow-up article on learningjquery.com: More event delegation with jQuery It is the first post of a triptych covering the new features of jQuery 1.3 and 1.4 This is what I should have concentrated on during the conference instead of distracting demos.
