PSD to Drupal: Introductory Theme Development 5.0 http://spkr8.com/t/1471

Description:

This presentation will be an introduction to the Drupal theme layer and template structure, exploration of popular "base" themes (Zen, 960.gs and Blueprint) and instruction on how to create subthemes and customize the appearance of your Drupal site from scratch.

At the completion of this session, users already familiar with HTML and CSS will feel confident in beginning their first journey into building a Drupal theme. Users will also be knowledgeable about the technical workings of the Drupal theme layer and many modules helpful to theme development.

Although this is a beginner-level Drupal presentation, it is not necessarily intended for novice web designers. Users will benefit most from this presentation if they already have a strong understanding of HTML and CSS and a working familiarity with PHP.

I'm new to Drupal and found this session very informative. It gave me a good start with terminology and knowing where to begin with custom theme development. I appreciate the useful tips like which themes to begin with. The 960 grid looks like it's going to be a big help. Thanks!
