iPhone Development: Touching Cocoa 2.84 http://spkr8.com/t/1758

Description:

Are you interested in knowing what you will have to learn to build the next big iPhone application? Apple's Objective-C programming language is the building block for all of its APIs, including Cocoa, Apple's name for the collection of frameworks and accompanying runtimes that make up the development layer of Mac OS X and iPhone.

Jamie will cover the development tools, programming paradigms and limitations of iPhone development (including the Cocoa Touch API and the Objective-C programming language) at a very abstract level. He will also reveal the mystery of the Objective-C's bracket syntax.

Totally dig the down to earth speaking style, this is how my brain works. Tangential yet focused. I really really liked it! Your distilled "Do you see alloc? You own it..." breakdown of retain/release lifecycle was brilliant and the praise of NSNotifications and your abuse of it is going to keep me focused as I get down to some similar details in my own iPhone app.

Jamies approach was unique and really down to earth. Great insight on Coda and iPhone development. Really felt like I knew the dude from back in the day, not at a technology conference as an established presenter. Jamie handled some opposition to his views very well, I've rarely seen that done in public; he not only defended his position but also clarified technically what he was saying. while keeping me listening. Jamie, if you read this, the only thing I think you could work on is your confidence. Dude, you are presenting to us, don't doubt yourself. I think I even understand why you were, but screw the peanut gallery. Nicely done, regardless.
