Description:
Techvibes.com has been a source of hyper-local news for a while in Canada. However, there was a lack of stories from Toronto. No one in Canada was aware of the interesting companies and cool people who live, work and play here.
In November of 2009 I started blogging for Techvibes.
At this session I will share the various lessons I have learned from writing about the Toronto tech and social media community for Techvibes.com

I loved Karim's talk. Karim's had early success, and his presentation detailed a sraightforward and sincere approach that we can all learn from. I found it a very valuable presentation, and a highlight of PodCamp Toronto 2010.

Karim was a fantastic speaker and did an impressive job at capturing the audience. His well-timed wit and authenticity brought an otherwise staling audience back to life! His journey, what he's learned and what he still has to learn were the most compelling aspects of his presentation. Not afraid to admit that he doesn't know it all made him and his session relatable.

I could easily related to his experience of venturing into social media for the first time. He was relatable, humerous and engaging-a tough act to follow I thought! Thanks for sharing Karim.

I had a ton of fun at Karim's talk - it was funny and I liked how there was audience participation. I am surprised that was his first time doing public speaking!!
Next time, I would suggest less repetition in your talk and more positivity in your experiences.

I really enjoyed Karim's session on building a Toronto community with Techvibes. I follow his articles and would have never guessed this is not his full time job! As a speaker, he had great energy and a lot of humor (#loudshirt). He had everyone engaged by telling his story and used real-life examples... even shared the floor with Alex Nasser, Yorkville Media Centre who gained a lot of visibility through an article published by Karim on Techvibes. Karim is building a strong community by staying hyper local and talking about the people inside innovative companies. Awesome job!

Karim's talk was equal parts informative and humorous. It contained lots of useful information mixed with first-hand commentary from some of his business contacts.
Kudos to Karim for being honest about his writing abilities. It only serves to underscore his hard work in reaching thus far.
Cheers.

I think Karim's talk was one of the best of PodCamp Toronto 2010 for the following reasons:
1) He used humour in his presentation, something that resonates with everyone; 2) He gave real-world examples of how he found his stories, and also some personal history of juggling the Techvibes gig with his day job = shows a human being, not someone who thinks he's has to sit in an ivory tower while the unwashed masses beg for coverage; 3) He gave time over -- at least 10 minutes -- for some in the audience to tell their stories too = very generous on a short timeline; 4) He admitted he doesn't know everything about everything; 5) He wore a kick-ass Union Jack T-shirt, plus points for a Brit like me.
I would DEFINITELY recommend catching a session from Karim whenever you see his name pop up in your locale.

Karim spoke candidly and with good humour about his experiences and lessons learned embarking on a new role as a tech blogger. He is an engaging speaker who creates a great rapport with the crowd. Evidence of his ability to connect with a community came from his cohort of vocal supporters, great to see such 2-way support from the tech community. The frankness was refreshing and Karim provided real examples of what worked for him and offered encouragement for new bloggers to take the plunge. Oh, and the #loudshirt - loved it, I'm a Brit ;-)
