The Ruby Object Model 4.28 http://spkr8.com/t/201

Description:

Most Ruby programmers have a mental model of how Ruby manages objects and classes. But the chances are good that this model is more complicated that it should be. Come and see how simple Ruby really is; a couple of simple concepts cover all you need to know. Once you master them, metaprogramming is easy.

This talk complemented the tutorial day and I've come away with a much better understanding of Ruby internals.

Excellent as always PragDave but why is inheritance so evil - apart from the coupling?

Every Rubyist should see Dave give this talk at least once.

Best talk of the conference - for me. New to Ruby so I consider myself extremely fortunate to have taken in this talk. So much that was kind of fuzzy now is soooo much clearer. Will be picking up Dave's Object Model screencasts at the Prag Bookstore to reinforce what Dave covered.
