The JavaScript Stacktrace Project 2.9 http://spkr8.com/t/2092

Description:

The Javascript Stacktrace project was bourne out of the frustration of cross-browser debugging and aims to make supporting all browsers in your web application a little less painful. This talk will show you good Javascript code structure for extensibility and testing, practical applications of the tool, and give you insights on how open-source software starts, grows, and thrives.

Loved the talk. The best part was that it was more than just code. It was the backstory as well. I'm a big fan of the lipsync presentation pattern (www.presentationpatterns.com) so I think the talk could have benefitted from that for the complex demoing of Windows and Internet Explorer. That's a lot to juggle!

The only other suggestions I have are minor at best:

1) Give an opening slide (doesn't have to be an outline) that notes you'll be covering the What, Why, and How of this project -- not just the typical What.

2) Explain a bit more what the konami code script is. I got the idea, but think some audience members might not get it. Show the konami code working correctly a little more slowly and emphasize that is "correct" and what it is supposed to do. Then, show it failing in IE.

3) Highlight with screenshots (in the slides) the differences for the same error in various browsers. Showcase the crippling of IE.

4) List out in the slides the means of using the script (insert in JS code you own vs. Bookmarklet)

5) Video demo installing the bookmarklet. Surprisingly, there are still tech folks who don't lex bookmarklets yet.

6) Show the github page. Show the contributions in the time line. Show a screenshot of this project being trending (if you have them) on GitHub.

7) Walk us through more of the tool's source code.

Overall, I like the "absence of ums". Your speaking was clear and concise. The topic was clear. I greatly enjoyed it as seemingly did other folks!
