Description:
New computing is emerging with touch/gestural input and large-format displays. Interacting with big-screen TVs, tables and walls makes us feel like sci-fi visions of the future have finally arrived. But once the novelty wears off, what will be compelling and practical uses of these unique, social, often public platforms?

What I had hoped to get out of this session was insight on things to consider when designing for surfaces and larger screens. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes, I had only heard a single point to think about when doing so, yet there were 4 different video clips. I appreciate a good Star Trek TNG clip, but I'm not sure the one we saw even related to the topic at hand (time spent on voice control didn't seem to fit).
I feel this presentation needed to be more focused, collect specific ideas and examples of goals for designing surface/large screen UI, and generally more organization overall. The potential was there, but it didn't really show.
