Refresh 015 — Designers vs. Developers 3.92 http://spkr8.com/t/280

Speakers

Description:

This talk was originally going to be called “Effective Collaboration Between Designers & Developers,” but when they sat down to create their slides, David and Mindy realized they had deeper issues to resolve: he wanted to generate them with a custom templating engine; she wanted drop shadows and vector images of Che Guevara. Instead, they’ll battle it out at this month’s Refresh meeting and rant about all the things they just can’t stand about their web counterparts. You’ll be enlightened as to why your co-worker glares at you when you walk in the door and leave with a few good ideas on how to communicate, empathize and avoid bloodshed.

Really entertaining talk - great job guys (and ladies).

I thought the presentation was quite good, and I liked how Mindy and David tried to make the transitions entertaining and meaningful. There was a good balance of humor and seriousness, though I thought the points were best made when they added their own experiences. Delivery seemed a bit muted for content.

Slides were great, really gave the sense that you guys spent a lot of time thinking about the talk (or at least choosing excellent pictures :) ). I wish there had been more time for discussion afterward, maybe at the expense of a few minutes of the presentation -- I'd have liked to hear from more people about their experiences.

Great talk. The delivery was very engaging. Although given the nature of the presentation, I would've liked to have heard more audience discussion after the talk (not the presenters' fault).
