Charles Oliver Nutter has been programming most of his life, as a Java developer for the past decade and as a JRuby developer for over four years. He currently works at Engine Yard and co-leads the JRuby project, an effort to bring the beauty of Ruby and the power of the JVM together. Charles believes in open source and open standards and hopes his efforts on JRuby and other languages will ensure the JVM remains the preferred open-source managed runtime for many years to come. Midi demo for the win. I also enjoyed the android demo. Topic overall was pretty compelling for someone currently in an MRI shop as well.

Great talk with nice examples of JRuby usage. Enjoyed seeing all the ways JRuby is being used now.

Well done. I'm sure a lot of people in the room are going to be switching to JRuby soon. He pretty much eliminated any objection to switching.

Great talk, with plenty of compelling examples. We were already considering the switch to JRuby, and this talk was the final nail in the coffin for C based Ruby.

Nice jruby java swing midi demo, very compelling demonstration of some of the abilities of the jruby platform.
