Jim Weirich 4.25
Description:
The wild and wooly days of crazy Ruby development are over. Everybody knows about Ruby, no one looks at you askance when you declare yourself a Ruby developer. Ruby is now one of the mainstream languages and all the major problems have been solved. We stand at the doorstep of a brand new Ruby utopia and there is no longer room for pioneers.

A perfect start to the conference! Jim Weirich's keynote set the tone of pioneering in Ruby for the whole conference, with his analogy in physics and the pioneering efforts of his own family.

Great delivery. Interesting start. Middle was tangential to the topic and didn't bridge middle or end very well. The end was reasonable. Would have been better being shorter and removing the majority of the physics analogies.

Great Talk! I loved the physics analogy, and I agree totally with your suggestions for the next frontiers in Ruby.
Also, to answer the question, does The Grand Design replace A Brief History of Time: No, read both! :)
