For Teenagers, the social web is both tool and space for growing up - they use Social Network Sites, Instant Messaging, Video Platforms, Wikipedia and other applications for everyday identity management, relationship management, and information management. By sharing their every day life with their extended network of peers, teenagers are performing basic developmental tasks within a specific socio-technical enviroment different from earlier generations. The talk will discuss the different ways the "digital natives" are using the social web, based on findings from a large-scale empirical study.
