Description:
It seems that far too many people come to jQuery thinking that their previous knowledge with object-oriented languages like C# or Java will help them be successful at client-side scripting. In many cases, you can be successful with this approach, however, the more JavaScript you write you will inevitably find yourself uncovering strange bugs because you didn't take time to learn JavaScript properly. This session is targeted for developers that use jQuery, but haven’t invested adequate time to learn some of the foundational JavaScript concepts that differ from C#. If you would like to avoid some of these common mistakes when bringing your existing expertise to JavaScript, then please join me as I try to explain some of the differences.

Great presentation - really learnt a lot and although I've come across much of the content before, you presented it in a very easy to digest manner. Using the HTML5 slides for the presentation (with jsfiddle integrated) is a really nice touch.

Elijah you gave a great presentation on what I wanted to know about javascript on what I'd want to know specifically for javascript that is either alien to, or different than C# (scoping and object literal I'm looking at you)
This also finally puts in perspective many blurbs I've seen that reference "for global variables hang it off the window" and never really understood what was being referred to.
The only criticism I could offer is on your presentation itself, there were a few moments where you befuddled yourself or introduced long pauses. Along those lines, I'd recommend trying to hold off on taking a drink until slide transitions.
It's a little jarring for you to be mid thought, stop take a drink, and then resume. If you hold off until you have a slide transition people's brains will be focused on the new slide put in front of them and not even notice you paused to take a drink since you will just continue the conversation as opposed to RESUME it.
