I'm a geek; I enjoy talking to software developers and I learn a lot from them :D I've had the opportunity to do some truly awesome things in the name of finding passionate people to hire - everything from three days of speed-dating-like interviews to hackathons to hiring 24 non-devs to learn the tricks of the trade. It's not often that anything relating to HR and recruiting can be deemed "innovative" so I've been pretty lucky in my career. Can't wait to see what other innovative initiatives I get to be a part of!
IMHO, Recruiting is more than just sourcing and screening candidates. The typical model of recruiting is transactional, and ineffective at building a long term talent pipeline. A company needs to be active in the community of talent it desires to recruit from, and needs to have an employment brand that appeals to that community.
Personally, I'm a ToughMudder, tortoise half/full marathoner, an avid hiker/backpacker/camper and I love me a good campfire. I have the coolest dog, hands down . . . she's trained for marathons with me, hiked 14ers, and used to come to work with me @ ReadyTalk. I'd love to find another company that will allow me to bring her to work ;).
