John has been a theater professional for more than two decades. Though his original course of study is in architecture, his love of theater overtook his professional aspirations and he left his career behind for performing, directing, and choreographing for the stage. John has directed hundreds of performances nationally. His approach brings the actors to their peak performances for rave reviews.
As an Artistic Director of theatrical production companies, John carries the reputation of reversing negative trends of the businesses and yielding up to 60% in increased revenues in a single year's time.
John is probably best known for his comedy sword-fighting show "Hack and Slash." The show has been seen internationally for two decades and over four thousand performances. After the events of September 11, 2001, John spent a large portion of every year entertaining the armed forces on six USO tours. These tours traveled to sixteen countries including the most remote regions of Afghanistan and Iraq. In March of 2006, while in Fallujah, Iraq, Hack and Slash performed their one hundredth show for the USO.
In 2011, John’s play “The Ballade of Robyn Hood” premiered to standing ovation crowds at a Michigan Theater. The play received rave reviews and is in being considered by three theater companies for performance in upcoming seasons.
As an instructor for the International Order of the Sword and Pen (I.O.S.P.), John is considered a top stage combat professional around the globe. He works regularly with the top instructors and the choreographers from both stage and film, creating friendships and professional connections with them.
In taking action in his personal and business life John has achieved outstanding results. His focus is now to empower individuals and businesses to set and reach their potentials. Some other achievements John has reached are:
Saved three theatrical production companies on the verge of bankruptcy and delivered up to 60% increases in under a year’s time. Overcame Spina Bifida to become a professional fight director. Became a professor at Oberlin College. Won the The William A Horne award for excellence in painting. Wrote two books : ”Signs Along the Path” and "The Simple Path.” Spearheaded eight global water projects. Produced the largest charity Christmas event in the Baltimore, Maryland region. Collected tons of food and clothing for homeless shelters. Climbed Mt. Sinai. Laid in the sarcophagus of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Climbed Machu Picchu. Taught inner city kids about the arts and job skills. Trained more than one thousand actors in improvisation, movement, and stage combat.
