Before concluding her contract with the Writing Department at the University of Victoria, Rosa Harris-Adler was the editor of Ottawa Magazine for seven years, during which time the publication amassed two Gold National Magazine Awards and five other nominations. She has also worked as a columnist for The Ottawa Citizen and is currently a columnist wi the Victoria Times Colonist. She got her start as a reporter at The Sherbrooke Record, a newspaper once owned by Conrad Black, and her freelance articles have appeared in such national magazines as Saturday Night, Maclean's, Canadian Business, Equinox and Canadian Geographic. She has won a Gold and a Silver National Magazine Award for her writing.
She has taught journalism as a sessional instructor at both Carleton University in Ottawa and Concordia University in Montreal, served as the national president of the Periodical Writers Association of Canada and is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists.
