Azure Cloud Numerics & F#: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Big Data

The promise of Big Data is obvious - more data, more information, and hopefully more insights. There is one problem, though: Big Data is Big, and performing analytics on large datasets comes with challenging issues. Where do you start when you can't even open your data on a single machine?
In this talk, we'll take a look at Microsoft Codename "Cloud Numerics". Currently in preview, Cloud Numerics is a collection of tools for modelling and analyzing data at scale. With Cloud Numerics, you can develop and debug on your desktop, and deploy a High-Perfomance Cluster on Azure when the hammer is needed. Its programming model handles gigantic arrays and matrices (dense and sparse) in a distributed manner, and it comes with a library of numeric methods that comes in handy for a variety of machine learning tasks. We'll demonstrate Cloud Numerics and F# in action, illustrating where we think it fits for the Data Scientist who needs Big Compute.
