In this session, Doug Chestnut and Steve Johnson will demonstrate an application that allows wearers of Google Glass to experience the University of Virginia Library’s popular Holsinger Exhibit, a unique photographic record of life in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, Virginia, from before the turn of the century through World War I, using a GIS-driven interface.

They will also describe the process for building the application, featuring the integration of client-side and server-side web development technologies (including Coffeescript, AngularJS, and Google App Engine), APIs (including the Glass API and the Library’s Virgo catalog API), GIS data and digital assets into an experience that is tailored to the Google Glass user interface specifications.
