Designing Together: Making Conflict Work for You
A talk by Dan Brown at Digital PM Summit 2013
About the Talk
October 14, 2013 10:00 AM
Philadelphia, PA
Philadelphia, PAConflict is the engine of design: great design comes from the challenging and charged collaboration between team members. Despite their value, these conflicts sometimes become caustic and counter-productive. Some designers prefer to steamroll their way through a conflict, and others hope to avoid confrontation altogether. But the most effective teams know how to turn a conflict into a decision-making tool. In this workshop, we will look at techniques for transforming difficult situations into productive outcomes. Participants will have a chance to try these techniques through a simple game that pits designers against typical situations like “Distracted by shiny objects” and “Late-breaking requirements”. Winners get a copy of Dan’s new book.
