The library of visual tools we have to represent and isolate the important features of complex, multivariate datasets is large. But most dashboards do a poor job of displaying valuable information at a glance, which in turn means they don't deliver value to users. Even the cleverest, most sophisticated data analysis tools can't do their job if the information isn't presented correctly.
In this talk, we'll describe the attributes of a perfect dashboard, point out some common antipatterns that we think you should avoid, and illustrate how to optimize for showing the most relevant facets of a dataset.
