Title: Disaster at the Podium: Speaking Tips and Horror Stories for the IT Professional

Level: 100

Abstract: Studies indicate that most people would rather face physical harm than stand up before a group of strangers and give a presentation. It doesn’t have to be that way. In this session, Kevin will show you some worst-case scenarios when giving presentations and the solution to those worse cases. You will achieve these goals by attending this session:

· Goal 1: Learn how to plan, prepare for, and deliver your presentation all while keeping cool and rational.

· Goal 2: Understand the techniques that elevate a horrible slide deck that degrades the value of the presentation into an aid that makes the presentation invaluable.

· Goal 3: Learn quick tips on how to build attractive and informative slide decks using Microsoft PowerPoint, including art and images sources, animations, and putting “rhythm” into your slides.

Even experienced speakers can feel intimidated when giving a presentation. However, most top-rated speakers approach the presentation process methodically. Learn those methods today so that you can enrich your professional and personal life by giving your own high-quality presentations.

Prerequisites: Intermediate experience with Microsoft PowerPoint.
