Mapping sessions are live, interactive, facilitated discussions with a small, focused participant audience. In this exclusive gathering, we’ll investigate an oft-neglected truth in business: that for all the talk about NoSQL, Hadoop and unstructured data, the reality is that most established business still have a lot of structured, relational data and enterprise data warehouses. We assess whether there are Big Data solutions out there that protect companies’ investments in SQL skillsets and structured relational data, that can nonetheless run more economically and be easy to provision and maintain. We’ll discuss how, with costs as low as $1000/TB/year, and the ability to handle a petabyte or more of data in their database, cloud data warehouses seem poised to take on the appliance-based incumbents. Panelists and attendees will evaluate cloud data warehouse adoption, the relative economics of cloud and appliance infrastructure, and questions around working with relational technology in the Hadoop/NoSQL era. With your feedback, we will identify and prioritize key concerns that will inform our research over the next year.
