Software-defined networking has plunged the networking industry into a state of flux, further confused by buzzwords, hype, and "marketecture." At its core, however, there are a handful of protocols and technologies that keep coming up in products and designs.
In this session, Matt Oswalt will offer a no-spin, technical deep dive into how these technologies operate. He will explore protocols like OpenFlow, Open vSwitch Database Management Protocol (OVSDB), VXLAN, and OpFlex. Learning the details of these building blocks will help all network technologists understand the truth of SDN -- whether they are interested in open source implementations such as OpenDaylight and Open vSwitch, or working with proprietary platforms like VMware NSX or Cisco ACI. Attendees will leave with a better understanding, and as a result will be able to make better decisions about which SDN technologies are best suited for their business needs.
