The software-defined networking movement began in the large cloud providers. Network functions virtualization (NFV) started in large Internet service providers that were trying to reduce capital expenses by replacing physical network services gear with virtualized equivalents. Does that mean these technologies cannot be used in an enterprise environment? Nothing could be further from the truth.

In this session, Ivan Pepelnjak will describe real-life enterprise NFV case studies, from remote-site network services virtualization to virtualized data center appliances. He'll focus on some of the crucial aspects of NFV: performance, service chaining, and orchestration.
