CSX is the largest railroad in the eastern half of the United States. Its network encompasses about 21,000 route miles in 23 states, Washington, D.C., Ontario and Quebec, and 70 ocean, river and lake port terminals. A key partner in customer logistics, CSX interfaces with thousands of production and distribution facilities through short lines and regional and western alliance railroads, as well as the U.S. Government for defense transportation and national carrier Amtrak. With so many moving parts to orchestrate, CSX must rely on proven and scalable technology to meet and exceed customer expectations while providing an absolutely safe and cost-efficient operating environment.

CSX will share its best practices for providing visibility and availability that extends from the data center, through the network, to the trains and remote locations. We'll discuss availability, performance management, alerts and logs, configuration management, and analytics and behaviors derived from network and data intelligence.

We'll also discuss the importance of IT and network operations for CSX's communications and signals mission, including the challenges of monitoring over 3,000 IP-networked wayside locations across the systems as well as supporting the corporate network.

CSX will examine the business benefits that improving operational excellence has provided, including improved IT operations, customer satisfaction, and how IT is providing executive management better reporting and data through analytics and intelligence. We'll also share how this operational intelligence provides the foundations for an M2M and IoT transformation. Attendees will come away with real-world, practical insights they can apply to their own organizations.
