People are predicting that there will be billions of smart devices in the world. The problem is that each type requires its own app. Are we really going to have 1000s of apps on our phones, preinstalled before we interact with a store, a movie theater, a lost dog collar, or a vending machine? The Physical Web is a project to tame this mess, allowing every device to simply broadcast a URL. This would allow any passing device to find and interact with anything. If we have a universal way to access everything, it unlocks an entirely new web, one where devices can offer information and services that any one can see. Unlike most technology approaches, the Physical Web is open source and cooperative. It will only succeed if we, as a community want it to. This talk will explain how the Physical Web is working, how it needs your help, and how we can reinvent the web together.
