Is JavaScript the first language that you think of when you hear the terms: Classes, Annotations, Arrow Functions, Iterators, constants, or Proxies? These are all aspects of the newest version of ECMAScript, which is the specification that JavaScript is based on. ECMAScript 6 code named ‘Harmony’, has been in the works since 2008 and has started to gain traction. Many of the dev builds of Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Chakra already support more than half of these new features. Many prevalent frameworks including AngularJS 2.0 will be written in and support only ES.next. We will deep dive into some of the larger changes with code and examples and discuss some of the smaller, more straight forward features that will hopefully stoke your curiosity to experiment more!
