Building and scaling distributed systems is hard. You can't just build the same old system the same old way--even when using new technology--and expect it to scale. Cloud computing, by itself, doesn't help either. This session will show a few of the methods, patterns, and practices used by Amazon, Google, eBay, Facebook, Twitter, and others to help build, maintain, and scale fully distributed systems. Topics that will be covered include: 1. "The Fallacies of Distributed Computing" 2. Messaging 3. Publish/subscribe 3. NoSQL 4. CAP 5. CQRS 6. Event sourcing This session is intended for serious developers such as team leads and system architects who have encountered problems building and scaling distributed systems.
