Until now, JavaScript has largely been restricted to the browser. However, recent projects such as GNOME3 and NodeJS have tested the boundaries of what can be accomplished using JavaScript outside of the browser. In this talk, Nathaniel identifies the major barriers for further adoption and discusses how the community can build an open and secure JavaScript ecosystem.
