Drawing on his 25+ years in the industry and his passion for making information more findable, usable, and valuable, Seth Earley will make the case that the future of artificial intelligence (AI) is in the hands of today’s information architects.

Throughout history, technological progress has been a matter of doing more with information. Despite the recent hype, AI is simply the latest iteration of an ongoing evolution of how humans interact with technology. Some think that means there will be less demand for the people who make information more usable and findable, or that information architects will no longer have a central role because “the AI will make sense of the data.” Information architects will lose relevancy, and suggest that those in the field today should start looking for other work. Nothing could be further from the truth–the role of the IA is more important than ever.

Today’s information architects do need to be thinking of ways to rebrand their skills and reinvent their jobs in this fast changing landscape, though. In this session, Seth will provide both inspiration and practical tips for communicating the value of the role of information architects. During this inflection point in human history, the impact of AI will reach every corner of our lives. This magnitude of change and far reaching impact requires human intervention at critical stages of design, development and implementation. Information architecture forms the foundation and creates the building blocks of the digital machinery that drives AI applications.
