People come to web sites for the content. Whether they are looking at an intranet, social media, or internet site, on a large screen or a mobile, they aren’t there for the joy of navigating or searching. They come to accomplish a goal: to decide which restaurant to go to, to share their latest thoughts, to get the answer to a question, or to pay bills. UX specialists and designers are often pressured to spend all their time and energy on “find” and not nearly enough time on “understand.” This session will give attendees ammunition to take to their clients and customers to move UX beyond navigation and search to Web content, and provide guidelines to help attendees understand and practice plain language for web sites.
