PhoneGap allows developers to create robust mobile applications using the technologies they know so well: HTML5 and JavaScript. It also gives access to native APIs as well the opportunity to extend a single codebase to multiple mobile platforms while also remaining functional as a standalone website.

We'll look at the anatomy of a PhoneGap application and compare it to an application written using native languages and discuss what criteria makes an application best suited for PhoneGap, then examine the actual code of a PhoneGap application deployed to the Android Market and other outlets.
