About the Talk

A discussion of lessons learned from experiences at the University of Brighton's social network, [email protected], and how they helped to shape the design philosophy behind the Landing at Athabasca University. Some discussion of remaining issues that continue to cause problems and the ways that Elgg's support for different social forms (sets, nets and groups) can leave people lost in social space. Concludes with thoughts on the design of soft technologies using hard pieces, in order to try and reach the Goldilocks spot: not too hard, not too soft.
